What we keep, and where
Breath of the Way is made to be used without giving us anything. You can watch, walk and read without an account. Here is everything that is kept, in plain words.
On your device
Your browser keeps your settings (text size, voices, volume, playback speed, picture quality), your place in the story, the verses you have watched, your bookmarks, and anything you saved with an earlier version of this site. They are stored in this browser on this device, and they are not sent to us.
To remove them, clear this site’s data in your browser’s settings. If you sign in, signing out also offers to remove your progress from the device.
If you sign in
Signing in is not available yet. When it is, this section will say exactly what it keeps. Until then, nothing described here applies, and nothing leaves your device.
Signing in is optional. It does one thing: it keeps your place and bookmarks in step across your devices.
- Sign-in is handled by Google’s Firebase Authentication. It holds your email address, and if you choose Google, the name and picture on your Google account.
- Your progress is one record in Google’s Cloud Firestore database: your place in the story, the verses you have watched, your bookmarks, and anything you saved with an earlier version. Nothing else: not your name or email, no details about your device. Only you can read it.
- Download or delete: on your account page you can download everything we hold about you, and Delete account removes your record and your sign-in.
The “Stay in touch” form
If you fill it in, what you type (your first name if you give it, your email and your answer) is stored by Kit (kit.com), the email service we use, and read by the people who make Breath of the Way. Kit first sends you an email to confirm your address. We use it only to write to you about Breath of the Way, and every email has an unsubscribe link that removes you at once.
To be removed, use that link, or write to hello@breathoftheway.com and we delete your entry.
What we don’t do
- No advertising.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind, and no tracking cookies.
- We never sell or share your information.
Two services see ordinary web traffic, as any website’s would: our host, Netlify, keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages asked for) to run and protect the site, and the pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts.
Children
Anyone can watch, walk and read without an account. Accounts are for people aged 13 and over, and we don’t knowingly create accounts for children under 13. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us through the form and we will delete it.
Scripture and credits
The Bible text is the Berean Standard Bible, which is in the public domain. The models, voices, music and tools the film is made with are listed in the credits.
Changes to this page
When this page changes, the date below changes too. We won’t start using your information in a new way without saying so here first.
Questions
Use the Stay in touch form on the home page; we read every message.
